Arash // Heimkehrer — Theatre Drachengasse

Arash // Heimkehrer is a station-theatre production by playwright Amir Gudarzi that premiered with Theater Drachengasse in Vienna in June 2018. Directed by Natalie Ananda Assmann, the show led audiences through sites in Vienna’s 2nd district (Leopoldstadt), linking the figure of Arash—a young Iranian refugee in Vienna—with the city’s Jewish history and the Stolpersteine “stones of remembrance.” Previews ran 18–19 June; performances 21–23 and 26–28 June 2018.

Staged as a walkabout performance, the production used multiple “Arash” performers to guide staggered audience groups across bridges, courtyards and interiors, creating a living bridge between 1938 and the present-day treatment of refugees.

Baharak’s Contribution

Baharak Abdolifard was part of the live music team, credited for vocals/“Gesang.” Her voice intertwined with Stojan Vavti (composition/sound) shaping the production’s ritual soundscape in the open-air sites.
