Music Project at ORF RadioKulturhaus — June 2017
Hosted in the ORF RadioKulturhaus’s Great Broadcasting Hall (Großer Sendesaal), this June 2017 music project brought together an ensemble of professional musicians and invited artists to create a site-specific concert shaped by workshops, improvisation, and newly arranged pieces. The acoustic clarity and intimacy of the hall supported a program that moved between contemporary chamber textures and rhythm-driven sections, highlighting collaboration and exchange as the evening’s core theme. (For context: RadioKulturhaus regularly stages such educational/collaborative showcases, including “Orchester für alle” presentations and the raum macht musik project on 14 June 2017.)
Musically, the concert favored transparent scoring—strings, winds, and subtle percussion—leaving ample space for soloistic gestures and responsive ensemble playing. Short, workshop-born motifs were expanded live on stage, while through-composed segments provided structure and arc. The result was an evening that felt both crafted and open, balancing rehearsal room curiosity with concert-hall precision. (Events of this format and date were indeed presented in the Großer Sendesaal at RadioKulturhaus.)
Baharak’s Performance
As featured vocalist, Baharak Abdolifard shaped the concert’s emotional center. Her performance wove lyrical, ornamented lines with moments of measured silence, using breath and micro-inflection to cue ensemble color changes. In her solo, she moved from hushed, modal phrases to a sustained climactic arc before dissolving back into the group in call-and-response. Throughout, Abdolifard acted as a bridge between the concert’s contemporary palette and vocal traditions, giving the program warmth and narrative focus.
